Position Summary:
SUNY Ulster County Community College, a two-year branch of the State University of New York located ninety miles north of New York City in the Catskill Mountains, is currently accepting applications for an Adjunct Instructor to teach 1 or 2 Advanced Manufacturing Courses per semester.
The STEM Department at SUNY Ulster is seeking motivated candidates with a strong Manufacturing Technology background. Skills related: Computer Aided Drafting, Electromechanical Maintenance, Material Science, CNC Programming and Operation. Applicants should be able to instruct the course in person on the Stone Ridge and/or Kingston Center campuses. SUNY Ulster is also establishing a pool for future teaching assignments.
Under the general supervision of the Program Coordinator, the adjunct instructor will provide instruction, lectures and assignments relating to Advanced Manufacturing coursework in accordance with course descriptions, outlines, class schedules, and the Governing Board policy; evaluate progress of students concerning educational matters, and perform other instructional related duties as assigned. Candidates should meet the minimum job requirements as specified below and be willing to teach in a variety of formats (classroom, online). Candidates who are currently working in the field are highly desirable.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- A commitment to meet during each scheduled class session and to teach or conduct learning exercises for the entire time period.
- To provide each student, and the academic department, with a Course Outline derived from the official course syllabus at the beginning of the course. The outline will include contact information, topics covered, and information about how the student will be assessed as per departmental guidelines.
- Accurately keep required class records on attendance and grading and submit when required.
- Comply with all institutional and departmental policies, procedures and deadlines.
- Give careful attention to all departmental and administrative communications by checking SUNY Ulster email frequently.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience: Proven experience in manufacturing environment, instructing others in use of technology.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Technology or a related field is preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
- Teaching: Strong interest in teaching, mentoring, and working with community college students.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with electrical and/or mechanical equipment, familiarity with CAD, CNC, or electromechanical assembly or repair.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

- Commitment to community college goals and objectives of providing quality programs and services for culturally, socio-economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students and students with disabilities; personal qualities to work effectively and with sensitivity in a multicultural environment; awareness of and commitment to the needs of non-traditional and/or re-entry students with diverse abilities and interests.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in a related field or Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of work experience in Manufacturing.
- Actively working in a desired field of study.
- Evidence of successful teaching at the college or university level.
- Familiarity with the BrightSpace Learning Management System.
- An instructor who engages the students, conveys the traditional materials in a dynamic and captivating format and incorporates hands-on projects into their curriculum.
