Position Overview:
The Director of Student Services (trio) is a highly responsible administrative position that manages and plans the department's activities, prepares the departmental budget, and supervises the departmental personnel and programs.The Director of Student Services (TRIO) is responsible to the Dean of Enrollment Management & Student Success for the supervision and continuing assessment of all services and support activities designed to assist the project's student population. The Director will oversee two federally funded grant projects that consist of students who are high-risk, low-income, disabled, and/or first-generation college students in need of academic support. The Director is also responsible for the management and planning of departmental activities, the preparation of the departmental budgets, and the supervision of departmental personnel and programs.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day to day functions of the staff and ensure operations are running efficiently.
- Provide supervision and assessment of all services and support activities offered by the department.
- Develop and implement effective strategies that are in line with the College's overall goals and mission.
- Builds and maintain working relationships with many external individuals and institutions and represent the College at functions in a professional manner.
- Assist employees of the College with concerns relating to the department.
- Plan and administer the budget of the department and ensures the department is operating with-in the budget
- Collaborate with other departments on projects to promote the College and the services offered by the department.
- Provides a team-oriented atmosphere and works to further the goals of the organization.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Additional Duties:
- Direct and supervise the Student Support Services Projects to ensure provision of supportive services to program participants.
- Recruit and evaluate staff including establishing hours for staff and approving all leave requests and overtime needs in accordance with College policies, and make recommendations for promotion.
- Assess the eligibility of and select students for the projects.
- Plan for continued development of the projects; develop long-range programming and staffing needs including contingency plans for financial curtailments.
- Maintain effective communications with and coordinate efforts with other College offices working on student admission, counseling, financial aid and academic instruction.
- Disseminate information on trends and directions in the improvement of learning for the under prepared and disadvantaged student.
- Prepare program budget, performance, and fiscal reports as required.
- Conduct ongoing evaluations, including monitoring of the progress of all students, prepare summary evaluation reports, and submit annual report to grantor as required. Furthermore, prepare special reports relating to student support services.
- Design and participate in educational experiences, cultural and career workshops, and seminars for program participants.
- Serve as student advocate and academic advisor for high-risk students.
- Attend workshops, training conferences, seminars and other activities promoting innovation for the benefit of students and staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in, Counseling, Education or related field;
- At least three years of experience leading programs focused on educational access and opportunity for low-income, first generation, or students with disabilities; At least 2 years of experience supervising staff.
- At least two years’ experience working in a College setting
And
- Commitment to community college goals and objectives of providing quality programs and services for culturally, socio-economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students and students with disabilities; personal qualities to work effectively and with sensitivity in a multicultural environment; awareness of and commitment to the needs of non-traditional and/or re-entry students with diverse abilities and interests.
Salary:
A starting salary of $67,600 with an excellent benefits package. This position is contingent upon adequate funding.Additional Information
