Position Summary:
SUNY Ulster County Community College, a two-year branch of the State University of New York located ninety miles north of New York City in the Catskill Mountains, is currently accepting applications for a Grants Accountant.The Grants Accountant is responsible for all facets of grant financial recordkeeping. The incumbent is responsible for creating and maintaining financial records, performing complex calculations and assisting with the college’s overall grant financial management. The Grants Accountant will work collaboratively with grant managers, accounting staff and various college departments. The Grants Accountant is under the general supervision of the Director of Accounting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Handle grant financial transactions including, but not limited to:
- Monitor various grant transactions, including employee wages and benefits for grant funded positions.
- Invoice for grant activity in a timely manner in accordance with the various grant requirements, and assist in the collection and recording of payments.
- Prepare fiscal reports on grant activity as assigned.
- Perform calculations and allocations of grant expenditures.
- Assist in preparing the annual restricted college budget.
- Assists in the grant application process as needed.
- Review and reconcile grant activity, such as effort reporting.
- Assists in testing, developing and implementing technologies and software.
- Assists in year-end processing, grant audits and annual independent audit.
- Assists in general accounting office duties as assigned.
- Works collaboratively with various College departments and outside agencies.
- Reconciles general ledger accounts and other financial data as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in an appropriate field and at least two years of relevant experience.
- Must possess a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to successfully multi-task.
And
- Commitment to community college goals and objectives of providing quality programs and services for culturally, socio-economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students and students with disabilities; personal qualities to work effectively and with sensitivity in a multicultural environment; awareness of and commitment to the needs of non-traditional and/or re-entry students with diverse abilities and interests.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in higher education, cost accounting or grant fiscal administration.
Salary:
An initial starting salary of $52,000 annually will be commensurate with education, training, and experience with an excellent benefits package. This position is contingent upon adequate funding.Additional Information
