Position Summary:
SUNY Ulster County Community College, a two-year branch of the State University of New York located ninety miles north of New York City in the Catskill Mountains, is currently accepting applications for an Assistant to the Registrar.The Assistant to Registrar shall be responsible to the Registrar and assist in the maintenance and integrity of student academic records and registration procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and review of all office procedures relating to student registration. Assist the Registrar in the orderly processing of all aspects of student records.
- Collaborate with the Office of Information Technology in assessing and recommending technology and software improvements to enhance the service provided.
- Train and supervise Civil Service personnel in the Registrar’s Office as well as new support staff who will be working with registration and student records.
- Manage the final grading process of collecting, disseminating and recording grades to update official transcripts.
- Assist Registrar in the process and certification of students for graduation; assist in the preparation of the student data file for SUNY system reporting.
- Assist Registrar in the preparation of the budget.
- Ensure adherence to all rules and regulations pertaining to the accuracy, integrity, privacy and security of student records.
- Develop and manage office communication relating to academic activities and deadline dates during the academic semesters.
- Assist the Registrar in developing, implementing and managing all special program registration activities for: Collegian, Hudson Link, Hudson Valley Education Consortiums and P-Tech programs, Cross Registration and Reverse Transfer.
- Develop and manage an office schedule for retention and disposal of official records based on Federal guidelines and regulations.
- Develop and manage banner forms necessary for student records and course scheduling.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree
- experience in an office environment, good organizational, written and oral skills. Commitment to providing high-quality customer service and working in a collaborative environment under tight deadlines.
And
- Commitment to community college goals and objectives of providing quality programs and services for culturally, socio-economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students and students with disabilities; personal qualities to work effectively and with sensitivity in a multicultural environment; awareness of and commitment to the needs of non-traditional and/or re-entry students with diverse abilities and interests.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and experience in higher education administration.
Salary:
An initial starting salary of $43,700 with an excellent benefits package. This position is contingent upon adequate funding.Additional Information
